The impact of Marketing on the growth of the FA Women’s Championship
This weekend the 2024/25 FA Women’s Championship season kicks off!
We want to use this to highlight the fact that clubs (just like companies) MUST take the risk and invest in marketing to start seeing returns in attendances.
If people don’t know about it, how do you expect them to turn up?
It sounds simple right, but Arsenal Women didn’t just get lucky in selling out the Emirates last season. They had billboards promoting the championship league matches in the London Underground during peak hours. Now that can’t have been cheap, but they made history off the back of it. Likewise, under their new ownership London City Lionesses set up a digital billboard in London last week.
This season the matches will be shown on YouTube making it more accessible than ever to support your team.
Hopefully we see more teams taking the leap in investing into marketing to drive those consistent attendances by increasing awareness and developing loyalty.
